It was a delight to cook up one of my favorite recipes from the beginning of my vegetarian days. The difference now, i'm in the lovely Nafis Kitchen with two kicking sauces to add to the mix. So grab a bottle of cumin or Mango Tamarind and lets get cooking.
Ingredients • 1-14 oz. Package Extra-Firm Tofu • 1/2 c. Barbecue Sauce • 1 tbs Nafis Cumin or Mango Tamarind Hot Pepper Condiment (As Desired) • Cooking Spray or oil
Instructions 1. Mix barbecue sauce and your choice of Nafis hot condiment together well.
2. Press sliced tofu between paper towels and two cooking boards, to add weight to squeeze out water, fill medium pot with water press for 30 minutes. Change towels if necessary. 3. Pour barbecue sauce into an 8-inch square baking dish. Place tofu in dish and coat both sides. 4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Oil baking sheet. Place tofu on baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn tofu over and brush with additional barbecue sauce. Bake 20 minutes more or until tofu is browned on edges. Toss tofu in remaining barbecue sauce and serve with a side of fries on a sandwich with coleslaw or however your stomach demands.
